Judy Buxton was born in Sydney, Australia in 1961. She studied painting at Falmouth College of Art, graduating with a First Class Honours in Fine Art. Judy then went on to gain an MA from The Royal Academy Schools. She is married to the painter Jeremy Annear, and they live in Cornwall, each with a studio in a converted Methodist Chapel in their garden.

Judy's inspiration is drawn from the surrounding land and sea, the light and reflection. Her work is much admired for her bold and vigorous use of paint, and one gets a sense that she has totally immersed herself in the process of painting, feeling at one with both the medium and nature surrounding her.

Over the years, Judy has received several awards, including First Prize, Gold Medal, The Worshipful Company of Painter – Stainers in 1996, NatWest Finalist and Prize Winner in 1997 and The Hunting Art Prize Second Prize Winner in 2005.

Judy's work has been exhibited in solo shows throughout the UK since 1996, and her work can be found in many public, private and corporate collections, both in the UK and worldwide. Judy Buxton has shown successfully with the Gallery for the past ten years.
